UNIDO celebrates World Statistics Day 2015
VIENNA, 20 October 2015 – As one of the major data producing agencies of the United Nations system, UNIDO today marked World Statistics Day, designated by the UN General Assembly under the general theme, ‘Better data, better lives’.

UNIDO Director General Li Yong took the opportunity to meet with the organization’s statistics staff to express his appreciation of their work. He emphasized the importance of statistics in the formulation of development policy and the monitoring of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

UNIDO has an international mandate to collect, compile and disseminate global industrial statistics. The database maintained by UNIDO is regularly accessed by users around the world involved in research, analysis and decision-making. UNIDO presents quarterly and annual data on the growth, structure and level of global manufacturing and other industrial sectors…
