CARE is gravely concerned by the increasing risk of hunger and vulnerability of millions of people in in the Sahel region of West Africa. The ability of communities in Mali, Niger, Chad and other countries to cope with chronic food insecurity has been severely weakened by erratic weather patterns, epidemics and conflicts.

On 23rd June heavy rains in south east Bangladesh caused severe flash floods across three districts. With over half a million people affected, CARE is already on the ground ready to assist over 5,000 of the people worst affected by the floods.
